Humans are like a car trying to navigate a new route!
Have you ever found yourself trying to discover God’s plan for your life? Have you tried living a life of purpose after drifting along without any clear direction or meaning? I’ve been there too. So, Worry not! In this article, You’ll find a guide to help you solve the riddles of finding your purpose in life, why you were created, the purpose of your existence, and the more to your life than what you’re currently doing.
But how do we discover this plan? How can we live a life of purpose?
As human beings, we often seek to find our purpose in life. We ask ourselves questions like, “What am I here for?” or “What is my calling?” Some of us may have even reached a point of despair, feeling lost and uncertain about the direction of our lives. But what if I told you that there is a purpose for your life and that you can discover it?
The Bible tells us that God created us for a purpose. In Jeremiah 29:11, God says — “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”[KJV]. This implies that God has a specific plan for each one of us, and it is up to us to discover what that plan is.
1. Seek His Will through prayer and study of the Bible.
Have you ever heard people mention that “I was having my quiet time or I was at a program when I got clarity exactly on what I needed to do?” Oops, in case you haven’t, you need to know that, it’s real, however, only if you have a relationship with Him and you’ve established Intimacy.
The first step in discovering God’s plan for your life is to seek His will. This means spending time in prayer and asking God to reveal His plan for you. In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus says — “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”[NLT] Thus, When we seek God through prayer, He reveals His will to us, and we can have peace in knowing that He’s in control.
Additionally, studying the Bible can give you guidance and direction. In Psalm 119:105, it says — “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.”[NLT]. Hence, The Bible is a source of wisdom, and it’s through reading it that we can understand God’s character, His promises, and His plan for our lives.
However, As you seek God’s will, it is important to remember that His plan may not always be what you expect or want, just trust in His plans and know that He has your best interests at heart. Proverbs 16:9 says — “We can make our plans, but the lord determines our steps.” [NLT]
2. Discover your gifts and passions.
God has given each one of us unique gifts and talents that He wants us to use to fulfil His plan for our lives. In 1 Peter 4:10 — ” we are told, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”[NIV]
Also, In Romans 12:6-8 — “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us…”[NIV]” Thus, Each of us has a unique role to play and discovering our gifts can help us understand what that role is.
Take some time to discover your gifts and talents, for they are tools to help you fulfil your purpose.
What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? How can you use these gifts and talents to serve others and bring glory to God?
3. Serve others.
Serving others with your gifts or in your area of passion can further help you discover God’s plan for your life. It was one of the things that aided my discovery of God’s plan for me and it can help you too.
4. Seek Wise Counsel.
In Proverbs 15:22 — “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.”[NIV] Hence, Seek out wise counsel from trusted friends, family members, pastors, or other mentors. These people can offer guidance and support as you seek to discover God’s plan for your life.
5. Take Action!
Once you have a sense of God’s plan for your life, it is important to take action. James 2:26 says — “Faith without deeds is dead.”[NIV]. You cannot simply sit back and wait for God’s plan to unfold. Steps must be taken to make it a reality.
Consequently, This may mean making changes in your life, stepping out of your comfort zones, or taking risks. But with God’s guidance and support, You can be courageous to take action and fulfil His plan for your life
Finally, You need to remember that your purpose is
ultimately to glorify God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says — “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”NIV]. Our purpose is not about us, but about bringing glory to God through our lives.
CONCLUSION
Living a life of purpose means seeking God’s plan for our lives, using our gifts and talents for His glory, being open to His leading, and ultimately glorifying Him. We can trust that God has a plan for each one of us, and He will reveal it to us as we seek Him. Let us pray for guidance and direction from God as we seek to fulfil His purpose for our lives.
I pray that as you seek Him, your ears and eyes are opened; and clarity comes in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
